Wire Calculator

Are you familiar with the question in the picture below?

As an amateur wireworker I spent quite a lot of time guessing how much wire I used for a coiled section or some jump rings or if I cut enough wire for my project. I didn’t have much spare time to figure things out from practice, my experience was growing slowly, my frustration - in no time. Then I decided to go from guessing to calculating. And it had much better results than guessing! I made this website to share the idea, now you can try it yourself

Here are 4 tabs to help you in several situations:

gate.io - when you have some wire and a mandrel and want to estimate the length of coiled wire or the number of rings you can make of it.

Coils to Wire - when you need some coiled wire or a number of rings and want to estimate how much wire you need (or when you already made them and would like to know how much wire you spent).

Wire to Weight - when you know how much wire you used for a piece of jewelry but don't have scales to find out how heavy your jewelry is.

Weight to Wire - when you made something intricate working from a spool and have scales to estimate the length of wire you used.

If you prefer to use certain measure units every time you use the calculator, click the gear in the top right corner, choose your settings and press "Save" button. Your choice will be saved in your cookies for a year.

By the way, you can enter measures in inches with fractions, like "4 1/2" or "11/16" for wire length and inner diameter.

Please, remember
This calculator can give you only an estimation based on a model. The real result may differ due to the tightness of coils you make or the springiness of wire you use. And remember to add some length for the tails you may need to hold your wire while coiling.
